Cuba…..making great progress towards a bright future!!!!
Significant achievements can often occur in a community without residents being fully aware of their scope and significance.  It’s easy to miss the Big Picture.  While many residents may not have noticed, Cuba has made great strides during the past five years.  Here is a list of the many accomplishments community and business leaders have achieved during this short period of time.

Business Expansion and Development - Cuba Cheese Shoppe, Giant Foot Mart and Empire Cheese and a veterinarian practice have all expanded.  We also have a new Arrowmart convenience store and a new dental practice.  Four downtown storefronts were recently purchased and the owners will be working to fill the storefronts with viable new businesses.

Sanitary Sewers - A $5.3 million State grant and low-interest loan was secured to extend public sewers around Cuba Lake and along Route 305 north.  Another $2.1 million in grant and low-interest loan was secured to upgrade large portions of the Village sanitary sewers and wastewater treatment plant.

Palmer Opera House Restoration - More than $1 million in grant funds were awarded for the restoration of the historic Palmer Opera House.

New Pedestrian and Biking Trail - Cuba has obtained a $589,000 grant to construct a new recreational trail that will pass through the Village of Cuba linking the Genesee Valley Greenway Trail to the Empire City Farm site.

New Festivals - Both the Cuba Garlic Festival and Alpaca Festival have been established which attract thousands of visitors to our community annually.

Economic Development Plan - The Town and Village are jointly working to prepare a Comprehensive Economic Development Plan with strategies to invigorate the local economy.

Genesee Valley Canal Railroad Freight Station - This historic structure was rescued from demolition and relocated to the Empire Farm site near the Block Barn.

United We Stand Flag Pole - The community came together and raise funds to erect the new flagpole in downtown.

Senior Citizen Housing Hospital has proposed to construct independent- and assisted-living facilities near the hospital.
